THE ROLE OF PID IN INFERTILITY CASES OF WOMEN.

INFERTILITY IN WOMEN:  Infertility is a global health problem and a socially destabilizing condition for couples carrying several stigmas and causes of marital disharmony.

Before we talk of causes of infertility, let us first look at the role of PID in Infertility cases.

PELVIC INFLAMMATORY DISEASE (PID) is an infection of the female reproductive organ. Most often occurs when sexually transmitted bacteria spread from Vagina to  Uterus, Fallopian tube, or ovaries.

PID is exclusively a reproductive system disease and it affects all the structures there if it is not taken care of on time...

The signs and symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease can be subtle or mild. Some women don't experience any signs or symptoms. As a result, you have a problem getting pregnant or you develop chronic pelvic pain.

Some symptoms of PID are ;

—Pain. Mild or severe pain in the lower abdomen and pelvic.

—Abnormal or heavy vaginal discharge that may have an unpleasant odor.

—Abnormal uterine blood especially during or after intercourse or between menstrual cycles.

—Pain during intercourse.

—Painful, frequent, or difficult urination.

—Foul-smelling vagina discharge.

Women should remember that the reproductive system is the part of the body that is involved in getting pregnant and having babies. It is a system that should be pampered and taken care of.

The reproductive organ of a woman consists of the Vagina, Cervix, Uterus, Ovaries & Fallopian tube.

The vagina is the outer part of the female reproductive organ or genitalia. Included in the Vagina are labia, vaginal opening,  clitoris, and urethra...

Cervix is a connecting link between the Vagina and the urethra. The cervix is like a door that opens to receive all manner of things like sperm, infections, and other foreign bodies and send them to the Uterus. The cervix acts as the door to the Uterus which sperm can travel through to fertilize eggs.

When pregnant, the cervix helps keep the baby in place until it is fully developed. One thing to know about the cervix is that it harbors a lot of infections. As various bacteria invade the cervix it becomes a threat to incoming spermatozoa. The sperm that comes into the cervix is destroyed due to the high acidic level of the environment and the inflammation that the infection is producing. This is one of the reasons for infertility. Even when some sperm can cause fertilization of the ovum, few of them will be able to travel down due to obstacles created by the infection which spreads to the Uterus, Fallopian tube, and ovaries. When the obstacles persist, it causes a delay in achieving pregnancy, which leads to infertility. Infections must be properly treated in both women and men that are infertile.

UTERUS is the sac or hollow pear-shaped organ where the fetus (unborn baby) is received and develops. It is also called the Womb. It is an organ that should not be damaged.  women who regularly engage in medocal abortion, once the Uterus is damaged, there would be no womb to habour a fetus.

Fallopian Tubes are long slender tubes that connect the ovaries to the Uterus. These Fallopian tubes can also be called Oviducts or uterine tubes. The work of the Fallopian tubes is to transport the Ova from the Ovary to the Uterus every month.

When sperm and egg merge and form fertilization, it is the work of the Fallopian tube(uterine tube) to transport the fertilized egg to the uterus for implantation. If any infection affects the Fallopian tube or if there is any blockage, it will affect the transfer of the fertilized egg to the Uterus and cause disruption which will lead to infertility.

Ovaries are a pair of small glands in which the eggs are formed. The ovaries are the channel in the reproductive organ in which female hormones, estrogen, progesterone, etc are made and released. The hormones made in the ovaries are the main regulator of the ovaries which give support, enhance and nurture the development of the female fetus, breast, hair, and body shape. These hormones nourish the eggs to mature very well before they are released to the Fallopian tube for conception to take place. If you fail to maintain your Reproductive organs, the infections which invaded the Cervix will spread to other parts of the organ, like the Ovaries, destroying the produced eggs and causing infertility.

As the infection destroys the incoming Spermatozoa, it also destroys the formed eggs and spreads to other parts of the environment. All these organs mentioned here can capture one disease or the other which can lead to infertility if it is not treated on time.
