Alhaji Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani, Chairman Northern Speakers Forum and Speaker, Kaduna State House of Assembly, has described as shocking the death of a former presidential candidate, Alhaji Bashir Tofa, saying Nigeria has lost a perfect gentleman.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani, the Speaker noted, “Nigeria has lost a perfect gentleman. The elder statesman Bashir Tofa was peaceful, patriotic and a lover of his country.”

The speaker observed that all through the deceased’s lifetime, he was never named among controversial politicians that fan the embers of disunity, confusion and disintegration.

The statement added that Tofa never played do-or-die politics, adding that he was an embodiment of democracy at its finest.

Zailani stated that late Tofa would be deeply missed by all for his silent role in stabilizing the polity.

He condoled with his immediate family, the Kano State Government, President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians over what he described as a “monumental loss”.

He prayed for Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannah Firdaus.
