NEXT supermarket located in the Jahi area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja is on fire.

The supermarket is one of the largest in the Nigerian capital.

When contacted the Federal Fire spokesperson, Ugo Huan, confirmed the incident, saying that firefighters are battling to put out the fire and prevent its spread.

While battling the fire, looters went on the rampage and were arrested by a joint team of security operatives.

The Federal Fire Service advised residents to avoid the areas as firefighters are battling to put out the fire and prevent its spread.

“The Service has turned out firefighters to the scene, who are currently fighting the fire,” Huan said.

Huan told NAN that because of the festive season, it was expected that residents might visit the store, hence the warning to avoid the area.
